Welcome to the Olivia Smikle Foundation, a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to empowering children from underserved communities through education. “The Children of today are the Leaders of Tomorrow,” was inspired by the founder Olivia Smikle’s vision for a brighter future. She believed that by investing in the education and development of children, we can shape the leaders of tomorrow and create a more inclusive and equitable society. This phrase has become a guiding principle for our organization, reminding us that the work we do today has a profound impact on the future of our communities.

"Read to Feed" Program Brings Joy of Reading to Banana Ground, Manchester, Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica – Just 1 Child Incorporated, in partnership with GoodNews Jamaica and the Olivia Smikle Foundation, recently hosted a successful “Read to Feed” program in Banana Ground, Manchester, Jamaica.

My journey took an unexpected turn when my dedication to law enforcement sparked a new passion for education. As I worked tirelessly to ensure community safety, I realized that the key to true transformation lay not only in enforcement, but also in empowerment.

I am forever grateful to the Olivia Smikle Foundation for introducing the ‘Only Read to Feed’ program to our community. My child had the opportunity to participate in this fun-filled reading day, and it has sparked a newfound love for reading in them. The foundation’s commitment to making education accessible and enjoyable for all children is truly inspiring. Thank you for providing my child with this incredible experience!
